Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a wild week in the lumber market last week. Strong demand coupled with low supply caused prices to spike, with many items up more than triple digits from the week prior. Although there was heavy reliance for material from distributor’s reloads on orders transacted, eastern mills were more willing to take orders for extended delivery well into January. It was difficult to gauge prices at any given time as product sold quickly with little comparability among the mills. Logistical issues were not as prevalent but continued to be a concern with several delays noted.
