It was much more active in the lumber market yesterday. Strong demand enabled the volume of orders to greatly surpass the previous day’s tally. The increased activity pressured buyers to cover more of their upcoming needs or fill in fast developing inventory voids. A better than anticipated outflow of product for retailers, distributors and manufacturers left many little choice but to step in and buy product, essentially supporting higher market prices and mill order files. It was either that, or being content with running out of certain items.
