Prices continued to climb in the lumber market last week but at a much slower rate than what the market had seen lately. Eastern mill supplies and product variety remained tight. Mill shipments were into mid-January and beyond with few exceptions. Dependency on distribution for quicker material was the key to many orders, although shipment delays and product voids were common. Demand was better than most had anticipated, keeping pressure on replenishing, and maintaining working inventories.
