In 2022, Brazil decreases exports of plywood by 11%

In 2022, Brazil’s exports of plywood lost 11% to 2.4 million m3. The value of exports contracted 21% to $941 million. According to Lesprom Analytics, the average price of plywood decreased 11% to $390 per m3.

The U.S. share amounted to 41% of Brazil’s total plywood exports. The U.S. is Brazil’s biggest plywood importer with second-ranked Belgium at 8% of total exports, while Mexico takes 7% and Germany 7%.

In May, Florida Сourt’s permanent injunction stops sale of Brazilian plywood. The U.S. Structural Plywood Integrity Coalition includes nine family-owned U.S. plywood manufacturers alleging that PFS-TECO falsely certified that plywood imported from Brazil met U.S. structural integrity requirements.
