I saw this today, and my heart sank. I split a truck of CDX plywood (Douglas fir) with a nearby lumber yard a couple months ago. It took forever to get here, and I’m told it was because of a track problem somewhere between here and the west coast, where the fir lives that the plywood’s made from.
But what happens if ALL the cars, or even most of them, stop? You lumber yard owners out there… How far ahead are you stocked up with things that travel via rail? I’m in Maine, so I can get things like spruce and eastern white pine. I can even get Huber products, like Advantec, Zip, etc. (if I want to drive to their Easton plant and get it myself, or hire a trucking company to do it for me), but I’d be out of luck with Douglas fir or western red cedar…
