Thank you @David_Bagdy for this article! We were just discussing asking the industry for next week’s Pakira Poll about people’s willingness to do biz in Eastern Europe in general, due to the risk of volatility and potential bans/santions. And la voila – you have materialized a case in point!

This ban only lasts until end of the year and the US and world markets should indefinitely ban Russian birch plywood and lumber and all forest products far into the future excising Russia from the global markets. The Russian people have not yet learned, even through the internet and their correspondence with their foreign counterparts throughout the years doing business with them that their government is a fraud and is controlling them by feeding them misinformation or preventing them from getting the truth.

The world needs to take a stand against tyranny and isolate the Russian economy to end dictatorial control once and for all.

We are headed in that direction!!

President Joe Biden on Friday is expected to call for an end to normal trade relations with Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, clearing the way for increased tariffs on Russian imports, a senior administration official familiar with the matter told NBC News.

Other Group of Seven nations and the European Union also will move to revoke Russia’s “most favored nation” status, multiple people familiar with the situation told Reuters.

Tariffs will not work as they never have and just creates a situation where the nation exercising tariff punishment are the ones ending up being harmed. In this case, shut Russia off completely until they rid themselves of these expansionist dictators.

The sanctions are crippling the Russian economy. Removing “favored nation” status and removing them from the WTO will have a tremendous impact. Russia is being pushed back to the 90’s.

Yes, but tariffs are not the answer; shut them out as industries have been doing in the West. Trump’s 232 and 301 tariffs only hurt Americans; decouple from Russia and set up parameters to source elsewhere otherwise Putin will continue and Russians will continue to receive false propaganda from government run media. Russian billionaires have warned Putin if he continues, Russia will be set back not to the 1990’s but to 1917 as the world would be distrustful of western investment. As long as Putin is in charge, western investors will cease to invest in Russia, tariffs only punish Americans and the western societies.
