WE’RE GOING DOWN! Last week brought some gloomy news: September’s Housing Starts came in at a collective 1.439M, falling 4.7% from the previous month’s SAAR of 1.542M level. OUCH! Yet on a positive note, Building Permits held their own, landing at 1.564M for September, up slightly from August’s 1.542M mark. With mortgage rates rocketing higher and teetering in the vicinity of 7%, affordability will be increasingly focused as we push deeper into the year. With such a bearish sentiment dominating the airwaves, you may be wondering how the lumber market is fairing.
