Theft a Growing Concern as Prices Rise?

Two men arrested in plywood theft

The Sahuarita Police Department has arrested two men in connection with the May 19 theft of $3,000 in plywood from a construction site.

SPD served a search warrant in the 17000 block of South La Villita Road on May 25, and arrested the two men in their 30s, one from Sahuarita and one from Mexico. One man was booked on suspicion of theft and trafficking stolen property; the other on suspicion of theft. Police are looking for a third suspect.

Police obtained security video from a construction superintendent May 23 that showed three men loading stolen items into a white Ford F250 with unique markings attached to a trailer. Flyers with photos and descriptions of the suspects were given to SPD and later that day an off-duty officer saw a vehicle matching the description.

Anyone with information on the case can contact SPD at 911, 520-344-7000 or the TIP line at 520-445-7847.

I hope these sorts of headlines do not become normalized as prices continue to rise.
