Wood Innovations Grant Funding Opportunity: NHLA News

USDA Announces Nearly $50 Million

to Invest in Forest Products Economy

Applications Due December 1st and 15th!

The Forest Service is making $49 million in grant funding available through its Wood Innovations, Community Wood, and Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance grants. The Forest Service is seeking proposals that support crucial links between resilient, healthy forests, strong rural economies, and jobs in the forestry sector. Made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, this funding will spark innovation, create new markets for wood products and renewable wood energy, and expand processing capacity.

The Forest Service is requesting proposals from eligible entities in the private, non-profit, and government sectors including Tribes, local and state governments, businesses and for-profit entities, institutions of higher education, as well as public utility, fire, conservation, and school districts, among others.

How can a USDA Forest Service grant help your business?

Read the story of Patrick Lumber Manufacturing, who was awarded a Community Wood Grant.

PLM has begun work to add a sawmill at its manufacturing facility located in Philomath, Oregon. The mill is partly funded by a $1 million Community Wood Grant provided by the USDA Forest Service.

Thanks in part to a grant from the USDA Forest Service, Patrick Lumber Manufacturing’s small, portable hardwood mill will soon be replaced by a much larger facility capable of producing 150,000 board feet of mixed species hardwood lumber per month.
