Welcome to Pakira, Gray!
Hi Gray , that is great news. Please check out PlywoodCentral.com , I am looking to assist plywood mills in marketing their product.
@Gray_Skipper Welcome to the Pakira Community! What kind of topics are you interested in learning about? As for contributing, would you be interested in sharing your perspective on the plywood industry today or share a market update?
Andrew, my main interest is in market dynamics and gathering enough information to make somewhat an informed decision on market directions.
The SYP plywood market is firm, but not a a runaway. Our car business has been strong, but our provider has shorted us every week in April. To the tune of 75% short!! We have reached out to our mainline RR and they have sent marketing down to get visual on our siding. Also, to hear our complaints. The TL’s are moving efficiently and some cars are being converted.
Michael, I checked out your site & thank you for the welcome note.
We are SFI Certified Sourcing certified. I will follow up with you next week to discuss particulars especially around carbon storage.
Thank you David & Hank!
Have a great weekend,
Very good , let make a plan .
Hello @Oleg_Semenov .
I come from a Swiss forestry family and about 15 years ago went to study recent advances in the development of mass timber components. This led me to start the first CLT plant in the U.S., which led to helping start two more. Smartlam, Katerra and Element5. I was instrumental in convincing Walmart to reimagine their new Home Office Campus in timber and helping bring Structurlam to Arkansas a state endowed with 19mm acres of trees that grow 71 tons of wood fiber every :60 sceonds. I am now leading the development of a robust mass timber practice / business unit at Structuretone Building Group. We have 14 companies across U.S., Canada, London & Dublin.
One of the challenges the CLT producers face is the disconnect and subsequent lack of vertical integration with the sawmills. I look forward to exploring this and other issues with everyone. Cool platform. PK
Working on the first mass timber brewery.
Very nice , we should chat sometime soon.
Welcome to Pakira, Pete!! You are going to bring an amazing amount of knowledge and experience to the forum and our discussions!
Im Julio Condeza and I run a company in Chile called NEUBER. Ive been involved with lumber for the last 20 years, bumpy ride…but the best one you can have.
We source Radiata Pine from Chile and Taeda Pine from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina to the world. Plus many other added value products using this species as raw material, like plywood, egp, lineal mouldings.
Hope I can contribute with info from this part of the world to the Pakira Network.
Julio, welcome to the forum. I think you will find it helpful in many ways.

@Pete_Kobelt Regarding that mass timber brewery … I will be your first and best customer this sounds very exciting, is there anyplace we can learn more?
@Gray_Skipper You are a wealth of insights. Regarding your rail provider, do you think that is a provider issue, or is the rest of the industry that bad? 75% short is insane. Is this having a big impact on your business?

Welcome @Julio_Condeza, looking forward to your contributions! Your South American perspective will be incredibly helpful given the state of the macro market in “The Great Lumber Shuffle” described by @Matt_Layman and brought to light by @David_Stallcop here Exponential increase in inquiries out of Europe for South American lumber and hardwood plywood .
When the war in Russia broke out did you start getting calls from European companies and did this lead to a price run-up for you like seem here In March, Brazilian export lumber price jumps 30%?
These would all be great topics for you to hop in on or create your own update! I am sure everyone would be interested to learn about what is going in the South American markets
